How to choose keywords for SEO with the Google Search based Keyword Tool

http://www.davesaunders.net Google easily provides some of the best SEO optimization software available. Best of all it’s free!

Seriously, how can you beat free?

Using the Google Search-based Keyword Tool, you can find keyword phrases from Google’s own search results database AND you can also find categories Google considers relevant to those keywords.

I figure accepting Google’s advice, when they’re willing to provide it, is very useful for seo optimization. It’s also a great way for me to come up with new ideas for articles.

So check out this video on how to do keyword research with Google’s Search-based Keyword Tool and don’t forget to check out my video on choosing the right keywords with Wordtracker as well. Wordtracker does things that Google doesn’t so I think both tools are valuable.

Keywords are vitally important elements that should be thoroughly researched even while the site is in design and development. It is also important that geotargeted keywords are included as well.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner.

Google uses many variables when it comes to ranking a site. Years ago Matt Cutts said it was over 80 and now it's even more. The keywords do factor in, but notice that CNN and Wikiepedia get high ranking even though they don't have any keywords in their URL. Make your first focus on great content that about something specific. KW research will help you focus further.

    Focus on building something great.

Roltan is a good looking tool. It's not free though, which is the point of using Google for keyword research.

Hi Dave! I tried to contact you but I didn't know how to do by your blog…I have 2 questions about SEO:
    – Do I have to search for keywords even for the title of the blog? Cause I've seen that it is very difficult to find available domains 🙁 then
    – Is there a way to balance popularity, relevance and competition? I didn't understood how to choose the best keywords. I'm getting confused! Thanks a lot!
